Strength In Weakness

“We find strength, not in ourselves, but in Christ whose power is made manifest most when we are helpless and without strength.”

Our dilemma

The Christian faith is a progressive discovery; a daily discovery of man’s fallibility and God’s unlimited grace. God’s grace shines brightly in our weakness. That’s why Paul wrote:

…Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. (2 Corinthians 12:9, 10)

As a man in need of a daily dose of God’s divine help (GRACE), I’ve experienced moments of weakness like Paul described. Some days simply do not spark passion. Some days feel like they were custom-made with dryness and laced with little or no spark.

Can you relate?

Strength in weakness

So how does weakness become good news in all of this? Paul gives us an insight again:

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”… For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9, 10)

God’s beauty, strength and power is gloriously displayed in and through us when we submit to Him in our moments of weakness. Desiring God captures it perfectly for me:

“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him”

Is God your greatest satisfaction? If not, it’s time you prayed to have a reawakening of the very thing that truly matters — GOD! Maybe it’s time you prayed:

“Lord, I don’t want to be a cosmetic Christian. Break me. Shape me. Mould me. Make me. Remake me. Help me experience your strength in times of weakness. Help me find YOU when life makes me feel like You’re not there. I know YOU are. Without You, I’m nothing. I’m so desperate to experience You anew each day. Don’t leave me where I am; there has to be more and I want MORE!”

We find strength, not in ourselves, but in Christ whose power is made manifest most when we are helpless and without strength.
