It’s been said that we are the product of our thoughts. Our actions are inspired by our thoughts, which in turn inform our outcome. If this be true, and it is, how crucial it is for us to renew our minds daily!
The believer’s spiritual wellbeing is fundamental. But you cannot cater to your spirit without nurturing your mind. Many spiritual battles are fought and won in the mind.
Unless we embrace the reality of nurturing and renewing our minds, our experience of spiritual freedom will be limited, if at all sustained.
This, my dear friends, is indeed a salvation issue.
What are you feeding your mind?
When you read Matthew 4:1-11 and see how Satan tempted Jesus while He fasted, ‘taking Him up into the holy city and on a pinnacle of the temple’ and ‘up into an exceeding high mountain’, you’d be forgiven to think these were physical events.
But the closer you read between the lines and have a deeper understanding of scriptures, you come to realise this was a spiritual battle in the mind.
Jesus overcame because His mind was fortified with the Word and knowledge of God: “It is written…”
You can only face and overcome life’s challenges, spiritual battles and temptations when your mind is tuned to God’s frequency and your heart filled with His Word.

If you consistently feed your mind contents that lack the Spirit’s power and edification, you cannot expect to win spiritual battles.
What are you feeding your mind? Colossians 3:2.
The power of a renewed mind
The mind is like a rechargeable battery — it will only go as far as you charge it regularly.
There are many grace-opportunities God has availed us to renew our minds daily.
We renew our minds when we meet God in His Word, develop a consistent prayer life, do life in community of other believers, read Christ-exalting books, soak in spiritually-edifying music, have opportunity to engage in deep discourses on scripturally-inspired life matters, and so on.
The renewed mind is powerful because it makes God its focus and views life from eternal perspective.
In Romans 12:2, the renewed mind is able to discern the good and perfect will of God because it will not conform to worldliness. In Ephesians 4:22-24, it is clothed in righteousness and true holiness.
In 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, the renewed mind has a relentless focus on eternity and considers life’s afflictions as momentary bumps in the road.
The renewed mind guards against willful sinning by feeding on scriptures — Psalm 119:11. It is able to have sustained peace in the midst of harsh life realities — Philippians 4:6-7.
